The purpose of the 8th International Conference on Web Information Systems and Technologies (WEBIST) is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in the technological advances and business applications of web-based information systems. The conference has five main tracks, covering different aspects of Web Information Systems, including Internet Technology, Web Interfaces and Applications, Society, e-Communities, e-Business, Web Intelligence and Mobile Information Systems.

WEBIST 2011 received 156 submissions, of which 9% were accepted as full papers. Additionally, 24% were presented as short papers and 23% as posters.
All papers presented at the conference venue were included in the
